Living in south Florida,it goes from bright sun to a dim light just before a torrential downpour of rain. So the iridium gold like 10 children are used to have Was very good in sun or the dark just before sunrise and after sunset, when your headlights can light up everything. But when you get caught in a rain the dimmer hazy gray condition it’s a lot harder to see where a clear visitor would be best. Also with the great UV coating they have my transition eye glasses would not tint . This is why I got this. I’ve not gotten caught in a rain yet but I plan on taking it out when it rains.
The transition from light to dark is quick and steady change. It is darker the the iridium light tint but not as dark as the dark smoke tint a s it does very in darkness with the light conditions. It transitions back a bit slower but not bad at all. The level of tint it provides is good for me so I can see we’ll and not have to squint.
Like many others I flip flopped on deciding if a $150 shield is worth the money or not. For me if I’m spending $60-65 on a normal dark shield I just had to ask myself over a few years time, how fast will $90 pay for itself during the inconvenient moments. Riding after dark with a dark shield and having to wear glasses with the visor up and being smacked with bugs or cold air. Riding with the new panovision shield it tinted so fast and naturally I didn’t even realize it would happen quite that efficiently. I was concerned if it would be too light as some commented but as the pics show it definitely was plenty dark, fingers just crossed it holds up for many years to come. I’d reccomend it if you’re financially in the position to do so. Eliminate hauling the awkward spare shield around and just go for the two in one
First off: this thing is TOTALLY expensive. $150 is a hefty add-on, even for a $500+ helmet. (think about adding on an audio device like a Sena, and your helmet is sitting at around $900, dang) I read a ton of reviews here and on other sites. Yup. They are correct: it's a bit slow to change to darken, and in direct sunlight here in Sunny Southern California, it just doesn't get that dark. BUT it does get darker, and for someone who commutes when it's sunny in the AM and dark at night, it TOTALLY beats having to carry both windscreens. Do I wish it got darker? yes. Do I wish it changed from dark to light to dark faster? yes. is there any other photo optic transitions lens option to this? no.
I put this on my first full face helmet and it looks fantastic from the outside. It seems to be a deeper blue tone than the picture, and you cannot see through it from the outside, AT ALL. It reflects when looking at it. It gives a nice tint while wearing the helmet, but I wish it was a little darker. If you're riding on a bright day, you could use ONLY this visor, but you'll still probably squint a bit. You could always wear sunglasses under it, but the I like the feel of nothing on my face when riding, which is why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5..
This photochromic faceshield is the best thing since sliced bread! I have my second Bell Star helmet, which fits very snugly. So snug, I cannot get regular wire rimmed sunglasses on... I’ve tried several pair over the years, and still struggled when riding West in the afternoon ( Even With good sunglasses). This shield eliminates the need for sunglasses at all! I wear contact lenses and am thrilled to eliminate the issue of wearing sunglasses! Very easy to install...
It’s a bit expensive, but why skimp where your safety is concerned?
Thrilled with it!!!

EXO-AT950 SILVER SIDE COVER SOLID HYPERSILVER
Good addition to any of the panovision line of Bell helmets, really effective in bright light, and I ride at night with it all the time. Since my helmet is too tight to wear glasses inside (yes, it's a size too darned small) this does the job of keeping me from going blind quite well.
So far taking two rides with it one at night 1 during the day everything is awesome no more switching my lenses it is a bit pricey but if you have any extra change laying around or even saving money like me I've been wanting a good lens for a long time this is the way to go definitely recommended
The product fits perfectly, however; when exposed to direct sunlight the visor only tints to a light smoke at best. If it is sunny you will still need sunglasses. It would also be nice if theses lenses were polarized, as the glare off of car windshields is blinding. Overall, I would say just save your money and buy the dark smoke lense for $50 and save $100.
Great visor. Not DOT approved
