PROS:
- Very well built. Made of some sort of high-quality synthetic material that is soft, yet strong.
- This works really well at keeping the wind and noise out of my helmet. It's great if you use a bluetooth comm. system all the time like I do. It really makes a difference in lowering the amount of noise the other riders hear. The installation was somewhat easy, however, it does not seem like it's a perfect fit, as it curves very slightly. Nothing to worry at all about, though.
CONS:
- Thicker than, it seems to me, it needs to be. It's easy to notice once installed.
- It comes lose a lot of times when I'm putting on or taking off my helmet. The three snaps that hold this in place are more than strong enough to keep it in place while riding, but not while my face rubs against it (again, while taking the helmet on/off). It's simple enough to push them back in, but it can be annoying sometimes and I wish there was a way to lock it in.
ON THE FENCE:
- The Velcro at the ends is barely strong enough to hold the ends in place while riding. Tighten your chin strap to make sure your helmet is snug and not moving around on your head at all (you should do that regardless of using this!) otherwise the chin curtain will come lose at the ends when riding.
- The above fact can be considered a flaw or a great feature, however, as the fact that the Velcro is weak also means that it will not permanently damage your helmet liner where it attaches.
This picture doesn't match however the item itself when ordered attaches appropriately. The Velcro is weak (this is a good thing), the air entering keeps it attached and the Velcro doesn't beat up the fabric on the helmet while in use, so far I used for over 800 miles at 130+MPH without ANY issues. It blocks wind if you are VLOGing and cold air riding in 30 and 40* temps
The stock picture isn't accurate, the front part is totally round and has no peak. received the correct prat for my CL-17 helmet, fits perfectly, since it just snaps into the 3 existing slot in my helmet. Only gripe is the Velcro could use a stronger hold but it does the job of keeping air out and for cold weather riding its awesome. Would suggest having a pin lock lens to go with your helmet to avoid fogging up your visor.
Good addition to the helmet especially considering the cost. As others have noted, the Velcro is pretty much useless. So, I first added a couple pieces of the strong Velcro loop sections (super sticky tape holding the pieces to the helmet padding) which gave the curtain Velcro a better grab.
Tabs fit easily and so far, curtain has been great. Reduces wind and noise for those cold morning rides.
one of the clips that snaps into the helmet doesn't click into the slot, making this pretty much useless. I may try going with a baclava instead, if I decide to ride in chillier weather.

Chin Curtain for HJC CL-17 CL-ST CS-R1 FS-15 helmets
This chin curtain is much bigger and stiffer than the normal type that comes with most helmets. It is impossible to put on your helmet or take it off without almost entirely removing the curtain. Most chin curtains will allow that easily. It will work well if your main purpose for it is to keep your face warmer but it is still inconvenient.
A Turtle Fur Shellclava works WAY better for keeping your face and head warm on cold days. If you ride in the cold you need one.
Took 10 seconds to install. The Velcro that holds the flaps to the helmet doesn't seem very strong but holds up in the wind. Definitely seems to help block out the wind. But when I'm at a standstill, my visor fogs up due to lack of ventilation but when moving, no problems.
Works well at reducing the amount of cold wind blowing up under the helmet. It does have it's limits. It was mentioned in other reviews that the velcro isn't as strong as it could be, and it can be a bit of a squeeze getting the helmet on and off. I also found that it works better on a bike with a windshield than one without.
