Just bought this helmet and took it out for an inaugural ride. This is the third Shoei I've owned (RF-1100 and GT-Air) and is definitely the best. Outstanding aerodynamics. At high speeds there's no buffeting, whether I'm looking straight ahead or I've turned 90 degrees. The modular function is a real benefit. I can put on the helmet, flip up the front, and I've got full vision to finish getting dressed. Compared to my GT-Air, I'm not sure the Neotec 2 is much quieter (hence 4 stars rather than 5). I do hear wind noise, though it's not bad. I eagerly await Sena's release of its SRL Communication System. I bought the helmet in part for the integrated bluetooth features. If you're looking for a great helmet and can spend c. $1,000 for the helmet and SRL, this is a great choice.
This is my second Neotec and the insurance company confiscated the first after a crash the destroyed the first one. Quality, Quality , Quality. Makes me wonder what kind of helmet the rich guys wear. I have a slightly oval head and the Neotec 2 fits like it was designed for me. I generally will nock off 500 to 600 miles in a a day on a long ride and the Neotec has never been the reason It called it a day. There is no such thing in my opinion as
a Quiet helmet but I find it Quieter and more comfortable than a C4 Shuberth. Have not tried an Aria.
I'm replacing my original Neotech with this. Though I loved the original, this Neotech 2 is a huge improvement. Easier on/off, a lot quieter., better venting, more all around comfort through better fit and a rocking blue have combined to steal my heart. A great helmet. You can't go wrong with this one.
This is a well made helmet, fits perfect and the hideaway black visor is a must for all motorcycle riders. My last helmet I had to change out the shield on bright days but once I was in the shadows it was hard to see, with this integrated hideaway visor I just flip it down and up when needed..coolest thing ever. When I started looking for a modular helmet I tried a bunch of the lest expensive ones on but nothing fit well, when I put this one on I knew this was the right helmet for me...everyone head is different so you must trie it on first. The flip up face is very convenient and helps keep you cool for when you getting ready to go, it allows you better visibility in case you forgot something and need to run back in. Some time I leave the face shield up in slow traffic if its a hot day to keep me cool.
I wanted a new helmet that was aerodynamic and quieter than my current one. After some research, I narrowed it down to the Shoei Neotec II Flip-Up model. I prefer a modular helmet. I bought the XXL and it fits great. No "buffeting" at higher speed. Just what I was looking for.

SHOEI NEOTEC II - Experience the Versatility.
When SHOEI first introduced the NEOTEC in 2011, riders worldwide realized not all modular helmets were created equal.
With its lightweight, highly-aerodynamic shell, advanced noise reduction, and optimal vision protection, all combined with an ease of use (critical to a modular helmet), SHOEI had indeed achieved new heights in head gear design.
But that was just the beginning.
Now, with the NEOTEC II, SHOEI has not only improved on already outstanding features, but also introduced design advances to bring their premiere modular design into a whole new era.

Aerodynamic Shell Design: Aerodynamic properties are maximized through extensive wind tunnel testing. Dual-layer EPS liner enhances impact absorption and ventilation. Four shell sizes and five liners present increased fit options that help to comfortably fit most head sizes from XS through XXL. SHOEI's exclusive, state-of-the-art shell forming technology incorporates the aerodynamic advantages of a spoiler right into the shell of the NEOTEC®. Vortex Generator on the face cover and visor works to reduce noise and manage air flow around the helmet. Flip-Up Face Cover and Face Shield: SHOEI's proven 360° Pivot Locking System, made of high-quality stainless steel components, ensures a safe and secure closure. Enlarged single-button release for chin bar and shield allows ease of use with riding gloves. Increased space inside the chin bar was added by adjusting the shape to create a smart and light design. Opening the face cover up will automatically close the face shield. Sun Shield Visor System: Built-in QSV-1 sun shield gives riders instant relief from sun glare in one quick motion. Visor meets ANSI Z80.3-2010 standard for non-prescription eyeglasses. Large and easy-to-reach slide switch activates the 3D injection-molded inner sun shield. Distortion-free shield blocks 99% of harmful UV rays. Forehead area of the outer shell is raised slightly to accommodate the internal sun shield. This allows the integrity of the helmet's inner EPS liner to remain intact. Ventilation System: SHOEI's wind tunnels helped to reveal the optimal balance between airflow and silence . Large lower vent shutter for ease of use with riding gloves optimizes air flow while in the riding position. All-new exhaust outlets flank adjustable upper air intake for improved hot-air expulsion. Micro Ratchet Chin Strap: Patent-pending 100% stainless steel interlocking mechanism. Quick and smooth closure and release. Comfortable and easily adjustable. Noise Reduction: All-new "Noise Is
I don't usually drop this kind of money on a helmet but this purchase was worth every penny. It's so comfortable that you don't want to bother taking it off when stopped. It's quieter than any full-face helmet I've own. If I hadn't done a test fit at a local shop first I would have bought one size smaller based on their sizing chart and the helmet would have been too small. It's my first modular helmet and I'm already spoiled with the features. The drop down tinted inner visor works fine with glasses. Ventilation is just okay.
Overall this is a awesome helmet. Of course I made my purchase in November in west Michigan so it's a little hard to judge the ventilation, but I have rode with it open and I can tell that it is better than my Shoei GT Air. I wear a size large and this fits great! I have one other modular helmet from another manufacturer and the the Neotec II is more comfortable and quite than that one. The appearance of the Metallic Anthracite is beautiful. This is the first helmet that I have owned without D rings and I have to play around with the adjustment a little as I seem to feel the buckle on my neck. If I were to have a complaint it would be that and the fact that it is on the pricey side, oh and that I have been looking at the Neotec II for several months and never see them on sale.
Bought this helmet and the Sena SRL kit to bluetooth it. Tunes, phone calls, and more imporantly directions from map app when I'm going somewhere unfamiliar. Just pretty damn awesome.
