I am a new rider, however this should not be sold as protection or at least highlight its weak spots. IF it would have listed no protection under the arms, I would have went with a product that had it. I cracked a rib wearing this product since there is no protection under the arm and I landed on my side. I bought this for protection but even for the rating there is not a star rating for protection, only Comfort, Range of Motion, and Value for money. Why would anyone buy this outside of protection. I did not look at this product and think that will be great since I want more comfort. Or range of motion or value for my money. Therefore every category gets 1 star since they aren't relevant categories if there is not a category for its primary purpose, protection.
I'm very pleased with this purchase and give it a 5 stars. Good ventilation and will update if any areas fail prematurely. All other gear that I have worn has moved in a bad crash and only partially done it's job. I am 5' 9" and 162 lb and the large size fit me perfectly. My 2nd choice was from Fox but I read too many reviews about fragile zippers.
This jacket is a joke. I got it for fathers day. I have put it on twice. Once to try it on and once to wear it riding. Sleeve has hole all the way down it from where the Velcro strap pulled the material. So much for protection. I thought by getting one at this price it would be better than the $40.00 ones on here. Your better off with one of those. SO MUCH FOR ALPINESTAR quality.
Good overall product.
Im 5’10 200 lbs muscular build and The XL fits good, little bit snug in the chest. But as ron swanson says your torso should be thick and impenetrable.
Only gripe is that the rear of the neck is a a little unfortable for me. Rubs a little. Not a big deal.
Solid armor.
medium fits perfect I'm 5'7" 140lbs, perfect for a hot day and fits well under a loose jacket

The OneWheel board without the right equipment is the number one cause of collarbome fractures. I suffer a bad fall good enough to have a collarbone fracture at the age of 48. Thankfully, I was wearing this equipment.
Fits great, hardly notice it’s there. I shy away from any gear that restricts my movement or weighs me down. Only worn in cold weather so far, so dont know about ventilation characteristics yet. Managed to wipe out wearing it, no injury to upper body, so it worked. Note they run a little small. I bought an XL and it’s snug. Usually between a L and XL in T-shirt’s.
I've only worn it for about a month and it already started falling apart on the mesh portion of the shirt. I contacted Alpinestars customer service and they told me that it was "user wear" and so there was nothing they would do about it. It definitely helps you stay cool when it's hot while riding but there are better options out there that's worth your money instead. Also another thing to note is that it's kinda difficult to clean
To be honest, I'm very disappointed with this and if the cost of returning wasn't high I would return it straight away. I previously owned another alpinestars jacket similar to this one and was pretty pleased with it. I was expecting this to be even better.
First of all, I'll say that the quality of the product seems to be good and well made. The protectors are very hard and seem to be able to take some force.
Now the negative stuff. My main concern is with the arm protection. The shoulder pads don't seem to cover as much shoulder as shown in the photo.
