Puig 5548H Light Smoke Touring Screen
: Puig 5548H Light Smoke Touring Screen: Automotive
Exactly what I needed for my bike. I'm 5'11", and the wind was giving me a lot of fatigue when riding at highway speeds or above 70 mph. This allows me to sit in the most natural position and the wind hits right at the top of my helmet. Still some body wind, which I will appreciate in the summer. I got the light smoke, which will be fine at night because you don't really look "through" it like a cruiser windshield. Totally worth the cost, it's like a whole new bike.
Compared to the stock screen the difference to me is incredible. It felt like a big difference riding; appears to even improved my gas mileage just a little too. As others have stated, with this shield the air seems to hit me about the top of my head while sitting straight up (am 5' 8"). Because the air is coming closer to the top of my helmet it seems to have cut down on some of the buffeting/wind noise at the helmet. It does flex a tiny bit at the top when hitting top highway speeds and/or in big cross winds. The color in the image is pretty good example of how it looks on the motorcycle itself.
The Puig screen goes on like a charm and fits perfectly. I don't believe it took 2 minutes to install. It's nicely made. Looks good and works great! I'm 5'11 so if I sit upright there is smooth current on my helmet. If I get in a comfortable tuck there is a placid bubble of calm air waiting. Makes for a pleasant ride. This is ideal for commuting or a little touring.
I installed this on my Yamaha FZ6R and it instantly transformed my motorcycle into a great cruiser. It looks really fantastic as well. Love it!
Looks great and easy to install (about 5 minutes)

Description
For long distance rides, PUIG introduces the Touring series to minimize the windblast against the rider. These screens raise the windblast in several centimeters allowing the rider to keep a more comfortable position riding the motorcycle

> Me thinks someone at PUIG did their wind tunnel homework WELL !
> I'm an even 72 inches tall, and at 70-75 mph, the air blast coming over the PUIG windshield hits me right at throat level, but the air flow is unbelievably smooth! It does generate some air noise in my helmet, but here again, there's no popping and buffeting because the air flow is so smooth! I love it!
> Light Smoke? Very light. Not really as dark-different as the photo indicates.
> Larger? Very much so, as seen in the photo. Taller and wider.
> I was concerned about fit as I have raised handlebars and tall mounts for my GPS and cellphone. Incredibly, only a small adjustment to my cellphone mount was needed! Everything else was fine!
> Appearance? Some riders won't like the height, but it fits in well with my tall GPS and cellphone, as well as the tall mirrors. I like it.
> I have and like the PUIG clear touring windscreen on my Yamaha FZ-07, which is what prompted me to buy this for my FZ6R. This one, however, has made a far greater improvement. I love the smooth, easy going, laid back, sweetheart nature of the FZ6R, and this addition (plus saddlebags and a 17t sprocket) has helped me create a 600cc version of the legendary Yamaha FJR1300 Sport Touring bike.
Amazing ! A must have for anyone riding on the motorway.
I did a road trip from Leeds to London with the stock screen: 3h ride on the M1. That was not a pleasant experience:
- despite earplugs and a Schuberth C3 basic helmet, wind noise was pretty loud; drowning even the music from the Sena 20S at max volume
- you also feel the wind blast while riding upright (am 5'8) hit you pretty almost from your belly -_-
The only way to avoid this was to lie completely flat on the fuel tank...
I now have mounted this screen and the Puig visor clip. I can now ride upright and hear my engine. The windblast hits me in the top half of my helmet visor now and wind noise is greatly reduced.
It feels like an expensive c£170 to spend on 2 pieces of "plastic", but they really change your life on the bike. Am really happy with my purchase !
Mounting is super easy: use the 6 screws from the stock screen and thats it. Beware though, they are made in plastic, so it s easy to twist a little bit too much the screwdriver and damage the head a bit...
Yes, it is overpriced. It is a piece of plastic for ~£100 but it works. It does a great job of reducing wind noise and buffeting. It also looks great on the bike, from in front a little tall, but when your actually riding it doesn't feel out of place. it feels solid and hardly flexes until above 60mph, also no noise at all until 50mph+ which is a major improvement over the OEM screen.
Installation is a simple as unscrewing 6 screws then putting them back. My only criticism is that the screws on the bike are very soft and easily rounded. It would be great is Puig could include some better replacement screws, but that's Yamaha's problem really.
works very well for its size .any bigger and it would look out of place .would recommend
