This helmet is excellent in that it passes all the American and European safety standards at a very very low price point. But, we had a break in the weather yesterday and in actual use this helmet had two very critical flaws , 1) The knob on the visor that you need to lift the visor up is indented so that it is almost impossible to find with gloves on. This can be very dangerous if the visor gets fogged up and you need to lift it immediately, 2) the sun visor also has the same problem. To lift it you need to find a slide switch which is too small to find and feel with gloves on. I bought and returned another hjc helmet which had a little knob sticking out of the top of the helmet that you could easily find and use just by rubbing your whole hand over the top of the helmet. That was a far superior design. I called hjc about it and they said a little knob sticking out of the top may have worked easily but it was easily damaged depending on how the helmet was stored and taken care of. For that reason they removed it And seemingly overcompensated by making a new knob almost impossible to feel but I shielding it from any potential damage based on the way The helmet is handled and stored.

I ordered this helmet because so far as I can tell it is the least expensive helmet that passes all the American and European safety tests. And it comes with a permanent sunglass visor sparing me the need to stick sunglasses into my helmet. unfortunately I am waiting for the third helmet to arrive. Despite meticulously measuring my head circumference the medium did not fit and then the large did not fit. So now I am up to the extra-large. Unfortunately I cannot say whether this is due to faulty sizing charts that HJC uses or perhaps to what may be my unusual head shape. thankfully Amazon is very cooperative with their return policy.
