Before buying this, I read tons of reviews that gave conflicting stories. But the truth is, this face shield surpasses anything else I've worn or used. It is equivalent to wearing sunglasses under your helmet or using a drop down sun shield as seen in scorpion Exo helmets. For reference I wear Oakley polarized grey lenses in sunglasses, and the tint is almost identical at full dark on this shield.

Now to be fair, this shield does NOT get as dark as shoei's darkest tinted visor, but it goes darker than the medium dark tint they have. It works very well with direct sunlight, and reduces glare which is the real issue with riding in the sun with no shades. It also keeps visibility at a maximum since sunglasses tend to limit visibility inside your helmet. I wouldn't recommend staring directly into the sun though, but no sunglasses manufacturer would tell you to do that either.

This was an amazing investment in my opinion, and I'd absolutely recommend it to anybody looking for a tinted visor.

I've attached a picture which shows the photochromic visor at about 80% activation compared to the original clear visor.
I was honestly skeptical about getting this visor, I wasn't sure if it would get dark to where it looks really black and no one can see your face, but it sure does, it gets really black, looking out of it is great and clear, I inserted the pin lock as well so it doesn't fog. I paid out the door $182 and it was totally worth it. I would say a must buy.
I wouldnt buy this item again the tranaition feature of the helmet stop working after 9 months of use, now it just stays clear for the price it should keep lasting, cost to much just to give out latee
I have been hoping a helmet manufacturer would make these for years. I actually contacted the manufacturer of my old helmet asking them to make a transitions visor and got no response. This is part of the reason I chose to switch to a Shoei helmet. It works great. I wear Rx glasses and get tired of carrying my glasses plus Rx sunglasses on every ride. The sunnier it is, the darker they get and vice-versa, but they do still get pretty dark is it is cloudy out as they are activated by UV rays. I definitely recommend these.
Packaged well for shipping. It easily installed into my RF-1200 helmet. Once outside, it transitions rather quickly from clear to tinted (wish it was a bit darker... but that's personal preference). Has not fogged up, which is wonderful. A bit pricey, but I clicked the purchase button and knew that going into the deal. As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for." Some people complain that it does not get dark enough. When riding directly into the sun, the lack of true darkness is noticeable, but otherwise, I really, really like this pinlock transition shield. No more switching from sunglasses to clear glasses when going from day to night. 5 stars as far as I am concerned.

The CWR-1 Spectra Shield provides a vast field of vision that rivals other.

If you have a Shoei RF1200. You need to get this shield. First of all, it looks amazing. It completely change the way your helmet looks. It will go from blah... to I will never take this shield of the helmet. Build quality-wise its very sturdy, well made. It has a new lip on the very top and Botton, that I am not a very big fan of, but it is for extra rigidness. Pinlock works great. Not an issue. Yes, it is chrome on the outside, nut if you compare it with the dark smoke it is lighter. However this is the only shield you will need. I mean you won't need to carry a clear one for night riding. During the day people can not se your face at all and it is dark enough to the point that if you are riding towards the sun you won't squint at all. During the night it is light enough that you have no visibility issues. I have a reflective stripe I put on the top inside lip of the helmet that at point black with flash a picture will show it as you can see in one of the pictures but that is the only way you can see inside during the day. I ride at night constantly with it. I even tossed out my clear shield.
I hate to leave a somewhat non-positive review, but upon receipt I noticed there was a very small imperfection in the shield, right where my left eye looks outward. It was about the size of the tip of a ballpoint pen, but again, right where i'm looking out. I guess it would be similar to a small smashed bug, but it couldn't be cleaned away so highly annoying and I had to return it and get a new one. The second one is flawless and I love the transition lens. I had one on my last helmet (Lazer) and now I'm afraid I can't live without it. Could it be darker in the middle of the day, probably, but not enough for me to complain about it. I purposely bought a Shoei helmet that was compatible with this shield (RF-1200), because I like the shields this much. Just not sure how or why my first one was not perfect.
My first Photochromic shield was bought 9 months ago. About a month before now it just started to not get as dark as before. I assumed since I ride every day, several times each day, that just maybe I had abused it a bit more than most might have, so I decided to buy a new one.

So... I had to return that one because it did not change color at all. I am pretty sure someone just put in a stock clear visor and returned it so the seller listed it back as new...

The second one, after 10 minutes in the bright sun, this is as dark as it gets. I am so disappointed in these things.
Having used a flip helmet with extra internal drop down dark visor, I went back to the simplicity of a having a quality full face helmet. I never liked using the dark drop visor while the main visor was closed. This photocrhromatic visor is a perfect addition to a brilliant helmet.
It adapts to the required tint fast enough but so far hasn't got too dark to see through. My helmet is white with a simple graphic colour scheme, and the dark visor suits it really well. All in all very happy, fast delivery and the price was better than anywhere else. Highly recommended.
I love this thing.
I used to always wear a light tint visor and in comparison, this goes much much darker in direct sunlight.

The advantage of the slow tint nature of this visor means that you don't really notice how dark it gets. It keeps everything looking the same :)

I took 1* off because of the crazy price.

Convenient? Sure.
Lets hope it lasts a long time as it cost 1/2 as much as the helmet it sits on.
