I bought these bags for my custom chopper for Sturgis; my initial impression of them was very good. They are spacious, sturdy, and look very nice. They come with nice rain covers, 3 pairs of straps with different conneting features and a wide hook and loop yoke; all of which allow them be adjusted to fit most bikes. While the description states they do not need support brackets or hardware, I made supports with rectangular aluminum which I ran a strap accross the top set of d-rings on each bag to lock them from moving side to side. Fortunately, I also ran a second strap on each bag to each rear lower d-ring to keep them from swinging out and provide additional stability. I expanded them out and filled them up for my trip.
As I drove into Pierre, 400 miles into my 640 mile ride, a weird noise began coming from the back of my bike. Just like one of the answers to questions, the left side bag had unzipped from the yoke and dragging on the ground. Thankfully the straps kept it connected, and since I had a duffel bag strapped down on top of the yoke, the right bag remained in place. but the left was significantly damaged. I reattached the bag and continued my trip; shortly thereafter while trying to zip the right bag closed after accessing the main flap, the inner zipper came loose from its teeth. I ran a strap across the opening to provide support and keep the contents in for the rest of the journey.
I removed the bags when I got to the rally, I was able to open up the zipper slide and clamp it back on so that it was back in working order and it functioned fine ever since. For my return trip I remounted the same way, except, I also connected the 3rd pair of straps accross my fender and a d-ring on each bag as a further safety measure to keep the bags from coming loose. This turned out to be a good idea because I as pulled into my driveway back home, the right side bag suddenly unzipped from the yoke.
While Kuryakan products are not low priced, they are usually a good value due to their high quality, but not this time. The zipper coming off of the access may be a fluke, but since there was another answer above addressing the yoke zippers unzipping and it occured twice to me, I think there is a design flaw. I recommend adding something to keep the yoke zippers from unintended movement. Also, while the handle on top is convenient, I think since it is attached to the opening flap rather than the main structure of the bag it may create premature failure of the zippers on the flap. As a final note, the front pouches would be better suited on the opposite bag from their current location with the water bottle pouch on the other (non-throttle side) so that it can be accessed while riding.
Bought these for a 2,000 mile trip. The zipper broke off on one of the bags halfway through. The rain covers are nice and I ended up using one full-time to ensure my clothes don’t go flying out. Definitely requires brackets. They do look really nice but I think they need to make those zippers heavier duty. Also need something very stiff to line the fender-sides of the bags because they malform and start finding their way into your wheel. Like the bags can only be ran completely empty or completely full. I ended up putting my larger tools in each bag on the fender sides to keep the bags straight. Otherwise they were good, plenty of straps and will try to have the zipper repaired by somebody locally.
I haven't used it yet, but it appears to be very well-made and of high quality. The bike I will use it on is a H-D Dyna model, so it has the shocks for the rear wheel, which would be in the way of the bag. My solution was to make a box to bring the saddle bags up so they clear the shocks, as well as the turn signals.
Nice features are the built-in rain covers and the expandable sides.
A great purchase for someone who doesn't want to break the bank purchasing bike specific saddle bags. It takes time to install the throw-over saddle bags. Once installed they look good and hold a fair amount of supplies. Used on a 2,500 mile journey. Didn't have any issues with them.
Just got mine and velcro connector is short on securing itself on my 14 breakout rear fender. I have to order a velcro extender to have it safely secured. Earlier question from another customer was answered about fitting the breakout and it's furthest from the truth. However seems to be a good sturdy bag, we shall see if i can even use them once i purchase an extention.o

Nothing to dislike..The convenience of over the top is great.. GET THIS BAG!
Well made of heavy material, strap system is not the most versatile. The swivel clips get in the way of tightening down and the bag should have had a strapping point in the center at the bottom or back, I had to add rox straps to make it work.
