While I had it, it was comfortable, light, and still had good airflow. Even for an entry-level shoei, it was noticeable a class above my icon armada. The only issue is that there is a gap in the seal between my head and liner in the back that causes wind noise. Didn't get around to fixing it cause a little after I bought it I went down. Pretty serious accident with front end damage on my bike and injuries to me but no head damage or injuries and never lost consciousness. So A+ on saving my life.
After years of riding and then a hiatus ... when I got a motorcycle I picked up a LS2 at my local dealer.. buying into 'gotta try it on" and just wanting to ride the day I bought the bike. I see why people ride with ear plugs with helmets like that.

Any way on to the Shoei... within a few months of buying that I needed a low noise helmet that fit. Shoei had always been good to me back in the day ... I have a VERY large head (size 8 hat) Shoei xxl fits like a glove.. I looked up "quietest helmet" on Google etc.. and this helmet did not come up (new model?) but IT SHOULD. Night and day difference .. I can hear my radio / communications unit at 70 MPH. Very quiet helmet. Air Flow - incredible flow through the top vents ... best of any helmet literally ever. Everything feels quality and no head aches. The LS2 at xxxl gave me a head ache after about 1 to 1.5 hours. This helmet I can wear all day... Of course the main reason to buy may be the snell rating (safety) this helmet carries that cheap china helmets do not. Anyway very happy with it, superb fit, finish, comfort, and a quiet ride... it is certainly the best helmet I have ever had.
Prior to this I owned an HJC IS-17 which is a cheap helmet, and there's a definite increase in quality against that cheaper helmet. This helmet breathes really well, like actual airflow moves through the helmet while you're riding. So much so that when it gets a bit chillier I have to close the vents; on the cheaper helmet the vents made no difference. The visor is great and the included makes fogging a non-issue. The chin vent makes the helmet a bit stuffy so I haven't been using it. The cutout for the speakers works great. The installation and removal of the padding is easy.

It's comfy, and easy to wear. The crash rating on this helmet makes it one of the safest ones on the market. Highly recommend this one.
Great helmet. Very comfortable and quiet. Wind noise is drastically less than other full face helmet brands I own. The only negative - as with the other Shoei helmet I have owned - is that they are SO airtight that they fog easily from your breath. It's a tolerable trade-off for the decreased wind noise. However, the pinlock shield takes care of the visor, but I wear eyeglasses that fog quickly inside my RF-SR. I ordered the Shoei Air Mask 3 Universal breath box and installed that inside my RF-SR and that has drastically lessened the problem. My glasses still occasionally fog when I stop at a long light but it is manageable with the breath box. I would not hesitate to buy another Shoei RF-SR.
In my near-40 years of daily riding on the mean streets of Los Angeles, I've owned many helmets--though mostly those from Arai, first, and Shoei second. But this is my first "budget" helmet, and I am impressed. As comfortable as any other Shoe I've owned, but for less the money. I would give this helmet five stars if they used the same strap buckle that they use on their modular helmets. This archaic D-ring is and always has been a bit of a pain--and forget trying to secure the strap with gloves on. A quick release ratchet device should be incorporated. And Arai needs to know, too.

The name SHOEI has long been synonymous with "premium" in the motorcycle helmet market - a credential that hundreds of loyal men and women in their Japan factories wear with great pride.
The evolution and production of their world-class helmet line is a meticulous process that combines the very latest in technology with consumer feedback, modern testing practices, advanced materials, and over 50 years of helmet building experience.
Just like the very first SHOEI helmet built by their founder back in 1959, every SHOEI today is still handmade in Japan utilizing a sophisticated process that involves over 50 people for each and every helmet.
Aerodynamic Shell Design: Aerodynamic properties are maximized through extensive wind tunnel testing and professional riders' feedback.

I got this helmet because their Qwest helmets were discontinued. This is the replacement for the Qwest. Fits my "oval" head very well with no forehead hot spots. Can wear this all day long. Decent ventilation. Could be better though. it's also a little louder than my Qwest. I get more noise up from the bottom and a little more air coming up from the bottom as well. It's nice in the summer months, but not so nice in the winter. Recommend a gator or balaclava. I added the Shoei "pin-lock" insert to the face shield to avoid fogging and let me tell you....IT WORKS!!! I didn't have one on my last Shoei when I bought it and I added one. I won't own a full face without some sort of anti-fog device. Riding with a foggy face shield sucks.
At times, the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. At least, that's how it seems when rating the components (comfort, value for money, weight) versus the product. This is my third Shoei helmet. I also have, and have owned or tried, a variety of helmets by other manufacturers. There's a reason I return to this one. Quality. Quality and security.

To date, I'm enjoying this helmet. I'll enjoy it more once it's broken in and I've progressed beyond the "my ears are going to rip off" when removing the helmet phase (a skull cap, balaclava or comparable covering will alleviate this malady), but it is on course to become a favorite. The helmet I purchased before this one is the Shoei RF-1100. Prior to purchasing this helmet, I considered the 1200, along with the air and helmets by several other manufacturers. After a great deal of research, I (obviously) chose this model. I'm happy with the purchase.

Presently, I primarily ride bikes that have a design best complimented by an upright riding position (classic, standard, street, et al). This helmet works well with that. The RF series definitely benefits from a more aggressive sitting position. Anyhoo, I could go on, but I'm not being paid to write this. This helmet is a quality product. I recommend trying on helmets prior to investing in one. While doing so, remember that quality doesn't cost, it pays. Also, protect those ears.
Awesome Helmut. Fits snug but no pressure points.
