Memphis Shades MEP5810 Clear Custom Lower
: Memphis Shades MEP5810 Clear Custom Lower: Automotive
I had high hopes for these lowers to cut down on helmet buffeting on my 2015 Honda Phantom, but I was disappointed. I'm about 5' 8" and combined with the Memphis Shades Alley Cat windshield, this combo just doesn't cut down on air beating my helmet up. At 60mph, I'm buffeted enough to have blurred vision. I just ordered a Big Shot windshield, so I'm hoping the better coverage of the larger windshield in conjunction with the lowers will help solve this issue. It's a bummer though as I dislike the look of big windshields on cruisers. It would also be nice if the mounting kit came in black for those of us that don't like the chrome look.
Yes they do help a lot if you take the time to move them up and down to find the right spot. They stop the updraft from coming up around the take and under my helmet. The noise level went way down and the helmet shaking reduced almost to none.
The "Catch 22" is they are high priced and the mounts cost twice as much as the product.
Someone needs to give these guys some competition. If they would lower their prices they might sell a few of these and make a profit.. That is The American Business mind in action..
I purchased these for my 2003 Honda VTX 1300. They fit quite nicely. The installation is easy. You can install these however you like but they are curved so they have a right and left. I installed them thinking they were flat and then realized that they were curved and on incorrectly.
I bought these as I was getting quite a bit of wind noise. I have a windshield that I look over approximately 2". I did not want to get a taller windshield as I thought it would look weird. My brother in law suggested trying these first. This definitely cured the wind buffeting. These things are unreal the amount of wind they cut down.
I went with the clear ones. My father in law got the smoke ones and they are pretty clear as well.
Seller shipped extremely fast. I couldn't beleive they arrived so quick. I recommend this product and seller to all riders.
Upon recommendation to get some lowers for my 2016 HD Sporty 1200 to clear up buffeting do to air flow from under the bike. This happens while I have my windshield installed, so I ordered these. While the bike doesnt look as clean with them on they 100% cleared up the buffeting. These thing work almost too good! I was sceptical at first but my ride has gone from helmet/head rattle at 60+ mph to easy clean ride at 80+ mph as if I where behind a large truck pushing the wind for me.
The parts (lowers) look good other than a little bit of sloppy work on the edges. Craftsmanship was good to fair and the flaws were only cosmetic and barely noticeable. The Acrylic is pretty thick. They fit the Memphis Shades mounting brackets (sold separately) well. For the price, how can you complain? The instructions were useless and focused on legal disclaimers and warnings. The drawings made little sense and seemed to be generated by someone who knows nothing about the product. Adjustment is up to the user to figure out, but upon my initial installation, wind buffeting was noticeably reduced if not eliminated. Good product. I'd buy it again.

wish they were either 2 inches taller or 2 inches shorter. These do what they're supposed to,but I have a super sport windshield on my deuce and these leave a 2 inch gap below the windshield where all of the punishment comes through. I need a full size windshield, but these cut the "uppercut" in half.
These do not work on a 1999 Honda Magna 750c motorcycle. I tried everything they either don't fit right or if you put them on they interfere with the turn signals.
Easy to install...look sharp. I have them up higher but they can be flipped and ride a little lower. I will try that and update the post. I have not ridden with the windshield on so I have not felt the difference if there is less updraft wind.
Installed it on my 2005 Suzuki C90 and it looks good. It is well made and very strong.
This will not eliminate buffeting but will reduce it to an acceptable amount for me.
Note that you need to purchase the brackets separately.
Item was as described and arrived on time. Installation instructions are non existent and without the proper mounting hardware installation would be a challenge.
