Ok i never write reviews but i have to for this helmet. I have owned this helmet for a Lil over a month now. Last Saturday I had a truck pull out in front of me and had to lay my bike down or hit the truck. I was going about 45 mph and my head hit hard but I was able to get up and was ok. The helmet did take some damage but that's what's it's supposed to do instead of my head lol. All in all I am very impressed with this helmet so munch in fact I'm buying another one to replace the damaged one.
First things first, it fit. I have a giant head full of deadlocks, and big helmets aren't easy to find. The sizing provided was accurate. I'm really happy with my purchase. Can't beat the price. I may get a couple extras to paint.
Not low profile, bit even close. Looks like it's floating above my head.
The words- smallest shell- are deceiving because they can make that claim while being exactly the same size as other"smallest" shell Helmets.
I'd you want true low profile you have to sacrifice inner lining.
Crazy Als Helmet claims to do that while still maintaining sit specs.
Some protection had to be better than no protection.
For me the added protection of this high riding helmet I'd offset by the wind sail effect from sitting so high. That wind sail effect strains your neck on a long ride. The wind constantly trying to rip the helmet odd your head.
I'll return this "low profile" helmet and try the crazy as helmet at almost twice the price.
Because while I prefer no helmet, your just bucking the odds without one.
Best helmet for the price; ever. I've been riding for thirty years and absolutely hate big helmets, but also don't want to die or suffer major brain trauma either. I've been guilty of using a "skid" for around town and a "real" helmet for longer trips, so this is a pretty good compromise. Ignore the reviews that give this a poor rating because of "mushroom" head. It is impossible to make a fully compliant DOT half helmet that will protect your head without some rise from the padding and protective material. Impossible. If that's what's desired you can buy a decent skid lid marked "novelty" for thirty bucks. This is a real helmet that will protect you and at $68, is a steal. The "mushroom" effect is more minimized than any I've seen and it's completely comfortable. I wore a 7 1/4 bdu cap in the Army, so ordered the large size and it's perfect. Feels custom made. The strap adjust easily and the quick release works perfectly. Helmet leaves face room for shades and doesn't move at highway speed. This is a great purchase. Buy with confidence.
This helmet is not any lower in profile than any other one i have. I have a Bell Pit Boss and this is about the same as that if not bigger. It sits (maybe) 1/3 of an inch lower in overall height but the width and depth are identical to my Pit Boss (which is the helmet i was planning to replace with this one) so this didn't fit the bill for what i was looking for.
It seems well made but I will be sending it back tomorrow and I just received it this afternoon.

I bought this on a whim (I mean, who could pass up a good deal...I only paid $13 for a $63 helmet because the packaging was messed up. If I could find deals like this every day on Amazon I'd have many helmets haha!)
So, I have the large size. It feels nice on my head. Fits well.
So far my only problems are 2 things.
First is my ears: they're squashed! The helmet literally bends my ears down because there's no room for them to go inside the helmet, and no "cut-out" per se. Really nowhere for my ears to go besides squashed lol. (Maybe I need the medium size...even though it's pretty snug with large. Idk.)
My 2nd problem is adjusting the straps. I can't seem to get it right. I did pull all the excess to make it tighter, and slightly adjusted the straps via the side mechanism. (Might just need more time fiddling with it...or maybe I do need the medium size. Or possibly I just have a funny shaped head haha!)
It's made well! Great! I'd say if you're checking out one of these Daytonas, you won't be disappointed.
I have looked for a long time to find a half helmet that fit well and did not have that "mushroom" look. This helmet fit the bill perfectly. The sizing chart was very good, so my new helmet fits like a glove. With good looks, great fit and being comfortable, the helmet just about has it all. Just about. The chin strap needs padding. The strap is made of a hard plastic, and connects under the chin with a ratchet-type connection. I love the ratchet connection and quick release, but that hard plastic pressed against the chin and throat gets very old very quickly. I have an old helmet with some padding I will try to retrofit - but having this added as a standard feature would propel this helmet to 5 stars.
I normally wear full faced HJC helmets. When preparing for a trip to ride side-by-sides on mountain trails, I wanted a half helmet for increased airflow (and I'm inside a roll cage). I purchased both this and an HJC half helmet, fully expecting to return this one. As it turned out, this was much lighter than the HJC helmet, had a better buckling system and adjustable straps to ensure there wasn't any pressure on your ears. I did have a slight pressure at a couple of points, but a strong squeeze permanently deformed the foam and eliminated the discomfort. There was nothing wrong with the helmet...just was formed for a slightly different shaped head than mine.
Although warmer than not wearing anything at all, the helmet was comfortable to wear even in 90 degree weather.
One Star
