Nelson Rigg NR-300 Route 1 Traveler Tour Trunk Bag, Black Harley Davidson Ultra, Indian Roadmaster, Honda Gold Wing
: Nelson Rigg NR-300 Route 1 Traveler Tour Trunk Bag, Black Harley Davidson Ultra, Indian Roadmaster, Honda Gold Wing: Automotive
$155 for this thing?! There is absolutely nothing special about this bag. It arrived deformed. On top of that, the finish is very cheap, marred and a bubble in the poorly faked leather material. Also, they used cheap zippers that don’t work well; you’d think for $155 they’d at least use YKK zippers! After all, this is supposed to survive high speeds along with the elements. One of the zippers is already trying to separate. Materials are cheap all around. My living room wreaks of cheap plastic just from opening the plastic bag it comes in. Once again, $155 and the best packaging they’re willing to provide is, in effect, a clear garbage bag. It has the same cheap smell as virtually any of the the endless $20 car trunk organizers you’d buy online.
The main features that attracted me to this bag was that it fit 2 helmets, expanded, and was supposed to have a “rigid” frame soI reluctantly paid the premium price because I assumed I was going to be getting a premium product, this isn’t even close. Even if it wasn’t deformed, I wouldn’t pay $50 for this piece of junk. The so called rigid frame is nothing more than a cheap plastic plastic insert found in most department store $15 duffle bags. It is pretty obvious that this bag would not hold up to either extended or consistent use.
If anyone reading this has ever spent $150 on a bag, backpack, etc... then you know what type of quality to expect, this isn’t even in the same ballpark. For what is nothing more than a cheap, poorly manufactured duffle bag with straps, this is maybe a $30 bag. There are plenty of companies looking to separate a sucker from their money, don’t be one and pass on this trash or they may ship you the same deformed piece of junk that I can’t return fast enough. Until I do, I think I’m going to have to put this outside, seriously, it smells terrible
The bag does hold to full size helmets along with two leather jackets. That's plenty of space for me. The finish looks great and holds its shape nicely.
I used this bag on a 50 day, 24,000 mile motorcycle ride to 63 capitols.
The ride cover failed but was quickly replaced in route, by the manufacturer so my ride was not delayed at all. The new cover lasted the rest of the trip and is still useable.
Because I used the bag on a softail custom, water would come up off the tire and get the bag wet from the bottom up. I sprayed the bottom of the bag with canvas water repellant and it worked to keep the bottom dry and the new rain cover kept the top and sides dry.
Between the road counstruction and the dirty wet roads, the bike and bag would get dirty and caked with mud. I took the bike and bag to manual car washes three times. The main zipper would get hard to operate but after cleang the bag the zipper worked much better.
Great size and seems to be sturdy fabric/materials. Install and removal are fast which is a plus since I do not carry it all the time. The handle strap slips over my sissy bar. The four adjustable tie-downs feed through my luggage rack and clip to the bag allowing me to then pull and cinch them tighter. It rides very well at any speed and much better than my overstuffed back pack did. You can easily fit two helmets in side by side. Double ended zipper pulls meet and can be locked together providing just enough protection that someone walking by can’t just unzip and take your stuff, but not a serious deterrent. It also wouldn’t be difficult for someone up to no good to un-clip the tie downs and steal, but it’s a great option for traveling if you’re not leaving it unattended. I like it well enough that I’m ordering another for traveling and the smaller version to use on my bike when I don’t need a travel sized bag.
It does include a rain cover which I have not used. The rain cover rolls up and fits well in the side pocket.
My only complaint is that the top seems to wiggle around a bit above the zipper line. Having the expandable zipper was great when items were too tall.
I carried my riding jacket, a windbreaker, 8 frozen pizzas, 4 frozen dinners and a 20oz drink with no problem.
I was a bit skeptical about how well this bag would do in the weather. We were headed on a 1400 mile round trip trek from Michigan to Canada and needed not only a sturdy bag, but something we would be able to fit all our things in. Well this bag impressed. We went through all sorts of weather, including high winds, extreme heat and heavy downpours and it held up well. We used the rain cover and just kept it on the whole ride, not knowing when we would get wet. It held up nicely. The bag secures to the rack securely and easily. We fit alot of clothes, accessories, snacks etc inside. It has ample pockets on the outside to put small things that you may need on the trip, such as headphones, gloves, snacks, chargers, etc. Highly recommend this bag for travelling, worth the price!

I just received this today in preparation for a long road trip. This is *exactly* what I was looking for, it is well made and is perfect for adding cargo capacity to Ultra tour pack luggage rack. Very spacious! Look forward to road testing it, am very confident it will perform well.
Large enough to put all the wife’s crap lol
It looks well made
Honestly I was very cautious buying a bag for the bike, I looked for weeks. After we took a short weekend trip we definitely needed a bag for rack. I ordered one. Quick delivery, packaged well, I had little hope after hearing/reading reviews. I was more than impressed I ordered another one. All of friends are wanting to order who would normally buy HD licensed products. Price is steal but doable. I will update as we travel more. Fits 2 full face helmets and more. Thick, roomy, adjustable, expands, waterproof cover, I wish I could order another one. Husband was happy I didn’t spend $400 or more on one bag.
Everything is good
