I purchased this helmet for long road trips. This is a comfortable helmet with multiple configurations. You can ride with the chin-guard up or down, the face shield, up or down and/or the sun-shield up or down or any combination of that. The built-in slot for sunglasses so they don't pinch your ears. The chin strap is comfortable and easy to put on/take off.
At high speed, it is more noisy than expected. The ventilation is sufficient but could be better.
Very good helmet for the price point. I might pay a little extra for better ventilation.
I looked at this type of helmet for a while. Ultimately, I chose the LS2 because of the intermediate oval fit and the price. So far, I have not been disappointed. It is heavy (which I expected). It is a bit noisy (which I also expected). However, I love being able to go from full face to 3/4 with the push of a button. It really works well. I rode 1200 miles in 2 days recently and didn't feel any adverse effect from the weight. I have a fairing and windscreen so I don't hear a lot of the noise. An unexpected benefit is with my GoPro. I put a chin mount on the helmet. So, I can get forward shots and backwards shots just by rotating the chin to the back. It works perfectly on video.
Interesting and well thought through design. First use was a 1800 mile road trip. Best helmet I've had (55 years riding motorcycles, and have had 27 bikes).
This is a great helmet have used it for several thousand miles and as long as 14 hours in a day.
A little difficult to get Bluetooth headset on but can be done.
I wear xlarge in all helmets I have ever had but had to go to 3xlarge to fit this one.
Good modular helmet, if you have a big head order a size up.

Description
The LS2 Helmets Valiant features the most stable "modular to open face" conversion mechanism in the world. As much as 20% smaller than competitive models, the Valiant is lighter, more stable and more aerodynamic. Our lightweight, aerodynamic shell is made from LS2's proprietary Kinetic Polymer Alloy (KPA) - 2 shell sizes to allow for a perfect fit and the smallest shell possible. A full metal latch assures the chin bar will stay locked when closed, and an LS2 exclusive design keeps the chin bar securely in place at the back of the helmet when it is in the open position. The UV and scratch resistant shield is optically correct and uses LS2's Fog Fighter fog resistant treatment for the maximum in fog protection. The Valiant uses our Twin Shield System drop down sun shield. Its cable-operated switch is smooth, and easy to use even with a gloved hand. Good helmet, but could not install headset for CB and intercom use. Helmet appears to be for blue tooth configuration only. This was made clear in specs. Had to return helmet.
