Klock Werks Sport Flare for 1998-2013 Road Glide (12" Dark Smoke)
: Klock Werks Sport Flare for 1998-2013 Road Glide (12" Dark Smoke): Automotive
Let's face it, on a RoadGlide, you will always have buffetting no matter what you do. Put a tall windshield on, it helps but the bike looks bad IMO. Put the 8" Harley shorty on and you get the full blast of wind, looks cool but completely useless, might as well throw your stock radio away because you aren't going to hear it at highway speeds. I'm 6'4" and this 12" Klockwerks seems to be the happy medium for me. Looks good, pushes most of the wind away, some buffeting but very tolerable. The wind is knocked down enough that if you ride with a cap instead of a helmet, it won't be blown off your head. I just rode 2,500 miles out west and I was more than happy with the performance of the windshield. My 2013 FLTRU came with the stock touring windshield, too tall, looked ugly, and was very warm on hot days with not much wind hitting your face. I then went to a 12" Harley Wind Splitter, which caused a lot of buffetting and less than impressive performance. I then bought the 12" Klockwerks which will be my windshield of choice moving forward.
This has been a very worthwhile upgrade to my 2005 Road Glide. It looks fantastic on the bike, especially being able to permanently remove that ugly original chrome trim. It has holes, not slides, so the install felt more secure to me. I’m 5’7” and I’m easily able to look over the 12” flare windshield and I feel almost no air hitting me in the face or helmet. I have to lift myself another 5-6” before I can start to feel the air. It’s also a plus that my music is now waaaay louder.
I have the 12 inch as well and have been pleased with Klock Werks! I wasn't sure if this one would cause too much buffeting because of the height but its perfect. I'm 5 11 and I love this windshield for its looks and performance.
I'm 5'8" and this windshield is the perfect height. I still get a breeze while riding, but the majority of the wind goes over my head. Not much taller then the wave that was on the bike, but makes a big difference.
The windshield is great. The only complaint that I have is between the Dark Smoke and Tint the pictures for Dark Smoke show it lighter in darkness than the pictures for tint.
The windshield that I received is the darkness of the pictures for the tint windshields.
I live in Alaska and it is getting dark at night now, and the windshield is almost to dark. I didn't have time to send it back and get a different one so I am kind of stuck. But, I love the flare!

Klock Werks Flare is the original windshield of its kind, and has surprised riders everywhere with not only how great it looks, but also with how well it performs. The innovative design features “hips” at the outer edge of the shield that re-route the air to add downforce to the front of the bike, improving stability vs riding with a stock shield. The “flip” at the top of the Flare is designed to kick the air up and back as “clean”, less turbulent air for the rider and passenger. Made from hard-coated polycarbonate material for added durability. Fits: 1998-2013 Road Glide
Paying this high price tag I would of thought the fit would be perfect. It has some gaps in the front. It does do great at deflecting the wind and bugs up and over you.
Giving this one 4/5 stars. I love the way the windshield looks on my bike. It is the perfect balance of form and function as far as size to looks ratio. The only issue I have is that I still get some buffeting around the top of my head. I am 6' tall and expected it to throw the wind all the way around me based on other reviews. The wind that is hitting me is only on the crown of my head above my eyebrows so I cannot complain too much.
I also thought the windshield was a bit flimsy when I first took it out of the box, but after a few months or riding It seems to be holding up. I would definitely recommend it.
Boxed great, looks great on the bike, can hear the stereo at higher speeds and wind goes right over my head. I'd recommend a taller one for highways but this thing is good for me.
