Lid doesn't completely line up with lock but you can wiggle it in there pretty good. Doesn't seem too sturdy. I got both the running lights and the brake lights to work though. You're definitely going to need to be mechanically inclined for this one, but for $80 it's worth it. I spliced the cables to my tail light cables directly behind the harness under the seat (picture). For my 2010 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 classic it was red=running, blue=brake and black/yellow=neutral/ground. Ran the extension wires to the cables that are attached to the trunk lights. I bought a 5pin 12v 30/40 amp changeover relay and spliced those cables into that. Running lights from harness into 30, running lights to light out from 87a, brake lights from harness into 86, brake lights to light out from 87, and spliced 85 into the neutral/ground. This way when I press the brake it changes the circuit gate opening the running light circuit and closing the brake light circuit (picture). Had to do a lot of research to figure out how to make this work. Hopefully my review makes it a little easier for the rest of you.
First of all its a $88 trunk. So if you are expecting top quality look somewhere else.
Having said that its a very nice trunk. It fits my modular bilt helmet perfect with room to spare. It has a good fit and finish, the latch and hinges work great.
The biggest complaint i see on this trunk is flexing and rattling. I think it comes down to the type of rack you mount it. If its a rack made of tubing it will flex, you are holding it from 4 points. If its a solid rack like mine the trunk sits there on a flat surface and it wont flex or rattle at all. The brake light is nice although you can choose only one mode, strobe or solid. My guess is someone forgot to put a diode on the circuit board design to switch between modes. Im gonna take it apart and look into that.
EDIT: I made the light into a dual intensity using a 220ohm resistor and two diodes. Super easy to do. I routed the wires under the seat and hardwired a connector under the seat to disconnect it if i want to remove the trunk.
It would take 5 minutes to mark and drill holes for the rack and if i ever need it i will.
If you really need instructions to assemble it or install it you should take it to a pro for installation, i dont know what the confusion would be.
Overall i would definitely buy it again, its a bargain
As other reviews have said, be prepared to measure twice and drill once. Its inevitable, it does come with pre drilled holes. Which would be nice if it didn't since I have to drill my own holes and cover more holes than I'd like to. You will have to install the spoiler/light yourself. The lid has predrilled holes for the spoiler and wires to fit through and mount. However only 2 of the 4 holes for the spoiler lined up. More drilling. More holes to cover, that I didn't put into it. I chose not to install the luggage rack, due to more holes having to be drilled. The luggae rack holes where the bolts hold it to the lid, were gunked up with chrome and slag. A tap will be needed to chase the threads before installing. I have 2 full face helmets, that will fit in the trunk.... but the lid wont close or even be close to latch. You can bungee cord the lid down if in a pinch. I have had this trunk installed for 1 day with a total of 60 miles. Vibrations are noticeable but no rattles or squeaks heard unless going over bumps. And that's nice considering I have this trunk mounted towards the rear of the luggage rack. So I have the brackets mounted in a small v style. I was intending to use this as a back rest for my wife but the pad is cheap foam and cheap hardware and the way my luggage rack mounts to my bike I cant remove the backrest without making an adapter to fit the luggage rack.
The picture posted is not crooked.. it's the angle the same is at and the bike on kickstand lol. More pics will be posted later and if I can figure out how to upload a video of the flash light I will.
I installed and wired the flash lights to my brake light connector under the seat. I rather have a flashing led to catch people's eye rather than a solid light. The flash is a continuous flash and not like the 3rd brake light on cars that flashed 3 times.
Wire diagram on inside of the lid. Paint finish was crap. Glossy yes, but bubbles and blemishes.. the under side if the spoiler wasn't painted correctly.. it was just overspray. The latch is a cheap chinese product. I will post at a later time to see how product holds up on my trip to Colorado at the end of July.
For the price it is good as a trunk that will be used (quick disconnect) on occasions. Required bracket modifications for better support over all. Easy to assemble. Back rest cushion flap has a peel/separated area out of box. If not for that I could have gave it 4 stars. Take the time and add additional support. I used 2x5/16 x 18 inch straps. If only using the holes predrilled it will be flimsy. If your passenger is large, the fit will be tight. Average size passenger with fit comfortable. I will be buying a second one to mount on a 2 point bracket for when I ride alone.****purchased a second one in March for the 2 point bracket. Again for the price and size with bike is good. Seller assisted with a lock issue without hesitation. If you have a smaller framed bike. This is a good box. Just reinforce your support mounting.
The brackets are way to weak, and did not come close to fixing my C90T Boulavard.....But I knew this would be the case, so I bought some 1/4 polished aluminum, and built my own brackets...took a bit of time but I liked the look of the trunk it matched the rest of the bike so I was OK to fabricate my own mounting kit.....I through the mounting kit and bolts that came with the trunk in the garbage, bolt why to small.....I cut out a piece of rubber mad flap to sit the trunk on, and bolted through that, because the vibration will crack this trunk in half if left with no vibration protection.

Product plastic quality is not strong enough ...center Latch quality is also bad .. unable to hold box on center ..very bad experience .. I hope Amazon should not promote such product .. price is so high .. . Not worth
This is a good quality product, backrest is comfortable, and has plenty of storage. The latch is I little cheap, I may replace it, but it works. I also added signal lights on it for more visablity, and lined the inside with a thin rubber matting to help deaden the sound of things that may roll around inside. Tom
Absolutely love it. And the brake light on back is a great safety feature.
