sized way small. My head is 61 cm, no matter how many times I measure it. XL calls for 61-62 cm by the included sizing chart. This helmet is really tight. I am used to open face, so I figured it would be tighter fit, but I am probably going to have to exchange for XXL. Odd thing is my current HJC open face XL, bout 6-8 yrs old, is a little loose if anything.
Build quality seems pretty nice for the money, just beware the sizing.
My hat size is 7 and a half, I'm 203 lbs. The XL is a great fit. Other helmets have to many gimmick vents and plastic decorative bs on them which creates ALOT of wind noise! And if you drop them the useless toys break.HJC is headed that way but this model isn't there yet.
It's simple and light. The visor movement is great and stays in place if you ride with it open. I'd give it five stars but the noise has crept up compared to the previous model...that I enjoyed for years.Did its job and had to go.
I tried "upgrading" to a Bell "Vortex". Noisy with just plain loud whistling! All the reviews "I get so many compliments..." Who cares, it sucked, the HJC is less money far superior.
In addition, HJC is excellent at shield replacement. The model number for the shield is on the black removable/ replaceable actuator. Buy with confidence.
The look and feel of this helmet are good. It's solid and it feels nice. The visor works well. Stays up or down when you put it there. The vents seem to work ok. The HJC size chart is a joke. Measure your head and then go at least one full size up. Mine measures just under 23" which would indicate a large. I got the XL and it was still too small so I will give that one to my wife and order the XXL. It pushes so hard on my face when I close my mouth I bite my cheeks (and they are not chubby). Also this seller charges a 15% restocking fee.
Good visibility. Light and not huge. Very comfortable. I ride long distances and have another helmet exactly like this except silver. I got a white one to reflect the sun and not absorb it so my head remains cool. I’ve had $300 helmets that I didn’t like nearly as much as this HJC model. Good job.
Buy one size larger than you think you need.
Otherwise, it's a good lid.
