Description
AFX knows helmets and have designed a line of off-road, MX, and ATV helmets specifically for that market. A good example is the FX-17Y. The FX17Y helmet model meets or exceeds ECE 22.05 motorcycle helmet safety standards. Your off-road, MX, and ATV customers will be in good hands with the FX-17Y as this helmet features an aerodynamic shell design constructed using an advanced lightweight composite poly-alloy and is specifically designed to fit a wide range of youth and adults. The retention system is a race approved Double D-RING. A clear coat finish protects paint and the stylish graphics. The FX-17Y has 11 points of ventilation with chin, side, forehead, top and rear vents. That’s three intake vents and eight exhaust vents to help keep them cool on hot rides and race days. Their goggles will stay put as well thanks to detailed features like the goggle guide on the eye-port trim and the goggle strap grabbers. The AFX Youth Liner System allows custom size configuration by changing the hypoallergenic, anti-microbial, and washable nylon liner components as necessary. Goggle grabbers on the eye port trim hold eye protection in place while double D-rings on the chinstrap ensure helmet retention during even the most extreme maneuvers. A clear coat finish protects the color and graphics to keep the helmet looking great in extended use. The FX-17Y helmet is available in sizes YS, YM, and YL, with a size YL weighing in at only 1.24 kg. It meets or exceeds ECE 22.05 certification standards.
This is used with smh10 sena intercom unit and works very well for that It mounts easy and does what it's supposed to do. As to the sound quality, it's being used on a motorcycle you can't possibly expect concert quality. That being said, the music sounds good to me as does the voice on the intercom or phone. I have these mounts on three helmets.
Works great and sounds great, installed it on one of my new helmets. The problem is that the mold seems to be off by a few millimeters on the clip release. So when I want to switch helmets it's extremely hard to remove the SMH10 unit from the "dock". I have to damn near pry it out and I constantly worry I'm going to break it.
If your previous mount and speakers failed then this is a perfect solution if you only have 1 helmet.
I purchased this item instead of buying a whole new system and put this on my back up helmet that way I can just switch the unit from helmet to helmet instead of buying a whole new system I’m very happy with it and it works perfectly just like the original that came in the package!
I have used the SENA SMH10 communicator for years & added these mounts to all 4 helmets in our house so we can move the modular communicator to whatever 2 helmets are being used at the time. These mounts are very adaptable & easy to install. (In 6+ years of having, I did lose one communicator module (very $$$) but I think that was because I did not click it in properly)
I am glad the mount came with the newer speakers and not the old ones shown in the picture.
I have mounted this on HJC, Scorpion, Nolan & LS2 helmets. (The picture is of the newest mount on an LS2 Rapid Helmet)

I have single unit Sena SMH10 given by my brother that I’ve been using on one of my helmet. I bought this particular product for my new helmet. The speakers aren’t the clearest/loudest one so like most if not all motorcycle rider I wear balaclava and ear plugs when I ride which muffled the sound even more. At certain speed the air gets to a point where I can barely hear the other party when they when we communicate while riding. Otherwise it does it’s job as intended but not perfect.
