For the money, this helmet does a great job of keeping me safe and comfortable. By no means is this a cruising helmet, but for general street use and perhaps track use (although not my current cup of tea, it does carry a Snell 2015 rating) this preforms very well. The two vents offer pretty good ventilation, but the mouth vent does most of the work as the top vent requires more of a tuck position to take in any bit of air. The removable cheek pads (with emergency pull-tabs!) paired with the removable lining make this a very nice helmet to clean and install a communications system. I'm currently using a SENA 10S with mine.
I initially bought this Medium sized R420, but have since then returned it and opted for a Large. My head size was balancing between the two sizes, but I found the Large to be much more comfortable. I also went ahead and bought a tinted visor that does wonders in the daytime.
Pros:
Great value, comfortable, fantastic looks, simple visor operation, removable inner pads, Snell 2015 rated.
Cons:
Louder than average, venting could be better on top
Despite the cons, I would still wholeheartedly recommend this helmet to a street rider that takes occasional long trips on a sport / naked bike.
I went back and forth with purchasing this, but I'm glad I did. The helmet fits well, is comfortable, and looks good. Mine didn't come with the smoke screen (I don't think any of them do) and I had to purchase that separately. Took a while to find it, but the smoked screen really ties it all together.
It's an ok helmet I just wish there were black visor available or at least wish they advertise the thing with the clear one
I love this helmet. For the price you cannot beat this helmet. Snell 2015 certified, cut outs for Bluetooth speakers behind the padding, & it's a very comfortable helmet. I was looking for a good price riding helmet with at least an ece or snell certification rather than just dot. & this helmet exceeds that. For 150 dollars you get everything you could need, especially for a budget. Scorpion is a good helmet, tight fit at first but when it's broken in it's very comfortable. Cheek pads are easy to remove & comes with a chin skirt. Overall I would buy this helmet again.
It's a great helmet. I like that it fits more of an oval head shape like I have, but also, it looks very slim because I am a medium so I have a smaller shell size as well. So no mushroom head here. And, while it is lacking vents, it is very comfortable, and the chin curtain is nice to have hopefully to keep the bees out.
I tried desperately to fog up the face shield, but my attempts were futile. Every helmet i have ever owned has fogged on me, but not this one. It's fantastic! The helmet is quiet by comparison, but that is subjective anyway. For the price, protection, and quality, this is now my go-to helmet.
Now, if they would just make the Covert X in an intermediate oval shell...

The all new shell is more aerodynamic and smaller resulting in an ultra-lightweight Snell-approved helmet. The ventilation system uses large top and mouth vents engineered to allow more airflow to the rider’s head while maintaining low noise. The EXO-R420 now features Ellip-tec II shield with a shield locking mechanism located in the lower center of the shield. This makes the shield more secure with a tighter seal against the gasket. The shield is easily removable without tools required. Shown with dark shield (sold separately).
This is absolutely one of the best looking helmets that doesn’t put a dent in your wallet and is SNELL certified. Most of the helmet at this price range are only DOT approved and makes you look like a dork, but this helmet looks good out of the box and is quite comfortable. I bought a Dark Smoked visor which makes this helmet look even better
Good looking and feeling helmet, I like how I look wearing it! One thing I don't quite like is the wind noise. My old helmet was an Icon Dark Alliance helmet. Whisper quiet on the freeway. This one however, lets quite a bit of noise come in, as soon as I'm on the freeway.
I love this helmet! I measured my head and got the med, fits like a glove. At first it squished my cheeks, but after a few rides it’s perfect.
This helmet is crazy light, not sure what the weight is but it replaced a 10 year old, full face Gmax 68s, and I cannot believe the difference.
I couldn’t be more happy for the money.
Comes with a clear shield so I ordered the smoke separately.
Aesthetics are important to me, and this thing also looks pretty cool, not like the great Gazoo.
