Wow! The quality on this part is top notch. I use trickle chargers on my motorcycles and off road toys... This connection makes everything I have used in the past seem cheap. I bought this Y connector for my Ducati Hypermotard. I have an sae - usb to charge my phone and just bought an escort redline radar detector for my bike. I figured wiring everything this route will eliminate the need to splice into any of the wiring on my bike (at least until I'am sure this is the setup I want to run permanently) I'am sure my needs aren't going to match most other buyers out there but its an sae Y... So, we are all trying to accomplish the same thing at the end of the day. I did a dry fitment of all the components earlier and this cable did what it was supposed to do. The weatherproof rubber boots are a nice touch as well.
Well after I installed this on my motorcycle I thought my usb port tgat i use to charge my phone shorted out and caused the fuse to blow 10amp fuse. Then I noticed my other accessory wasn't working has a 4 amp pull max so upon checking out the Y splitter I realized the wiring in it was no good took that off and put things back how they were and now both accessories work again . I was trying to eliminate some of the wires under my seat well scratch that idea. I'm not worried about contacting the seller because I'm just going to cut my loss and move on.
There are cheaper alternatives out there, but I know the quality I am getting when I buy OptiMATE. I know it will work. I'm willing to pay a premium for that.
I needed to divide the power in my kayak so I could add the ability to charge my phone. All of the connections are SAE, so this was the logical choice.
I have never been, and will never be, compensated for a review of a product. This is my opinion, and lots of it.
Very good build quality. I use Optimate for all my SAE stuff on my bike. I put this on after the Optimate batter tender lead. I really like this one since it has fuses. I run an SAE extender from here up to the bars for USB charging ports. I would put a small rated fuse in like 2.5 or 5 if using for that purpose. Protect your electronics better.
Put this on my bike and it works just as it is supposed to. Adds a place to jump the bike without having to unhook anything or take the seat off to get at the battery. I will probably never need to use it now that I have it. :-)
I have used it with an extension to power a phone playing music.

I use this to connect an additional controller for my heated gear, giving me the ability to have 4 pieces of heated clothing with 4 distinct controls.
Use these on a motorcycle to add an additional SAE/USB port. The product works as expected and seems to be of good quality. I especially like the inline rubber boots/seals that go over both connectors. They seem to give the connectors a (relatively) water resistant seal.
It comes packaged all nice, but when you put any pressure on the SAE leads the copper wire is visible down at the Y connection area. Electrical shorts are almost guaranteed and will probably cost a lot more than this item. I bought this splitter because I thought it looked heavy duty and paid more for it because of that feature. Sadly, I was wrong and will have to find another one that can survive the average forces of use.
