Bottom line? This is a great mount for most of the SMH-series headsets.

I own two SMH10 communicators and use them on two sets of helmets (road and ATV). This kit allows me to switch the comm modules between road and off-road helmets.

Installation varies by helmet. Installation in my road helmets (Scorpion EXO-900) was a chore. I had to take the helmet completely apart and drill holes into the side pads for the speakers and route the wires. On the other hand, installation in my off-road helmets (AFX FX-21) was a breeze and only required unsnapping the lower part of the side pads and tucking in the wires, as there were holes for the speakers to fit into.

The downside to these mounts - and this is Sena's issue - is that mounts are specific to a series. The SMH mounts aren't compatible with the 20/30 mounts, and the SF mounts aren't compatible with the SMH mounts, and so on. This means if you want to upgrade your communicator, you'll have to buy new mounts for all helmets - poor design by Sena for their own products. Sena should have made a common mounting platform across all of their communicator modules.

Pros:
- Allows swapping between helmets for your comm modules
- A decent value when they go on sale for 29 bucks

Cons:
- Incompatible with other Sena series communicators
I bought the spare bracket along with a Dual set as a Father's Day gift. My husband either rides with me or our son, but not usually both of us at the same time, so we only needed two main modules.
I like the system very much, but wish it had a regular boom mic which would situate the phone button to the rear of the helmet rather than the front. It's a little awkward for me. The wiring for the mic will need to be fastened down somehow. All in all, a small price to pay for this device that creates more social time between riding buddies.
I originally bought the smh10 which only came with the "boom mic" permanently attached. When I complained about eating the mic inside my full face helmet, my friend told me I should use the "small mic" and said it should've come with it. After realizing I bought the wrong one, $35 is much easier to swallow that $160 for a whole new rig. The sound quality is just as good as the boom mic (not amazing but more than adequate, kinda like an older phone), and I don't even notice the tiny mic inside my helmet!
Ordered 2 of these for our new modular helmets, which inconveniently have a inner visor operating slide right where the clamp unit "should" be mounted.

Because we had to mount the clamp further back, forward made mic boom "too long" and away from our mouths, the mic boom on our existing clamps "too short".

So, we ordered these with wired mics to mount where we needed it to be for perfect position.

So far, we have one "problem" with the speakers. The right speaker's volume on BOTH clamp units are significantly lower/softer than the left, leaving us to feel the right side is NOT working.

Although we tried to reposition the speakers in ALL directions, it still sounds as though right side is not working because the left side sounds significantly louder then right.

Other than that, this unit comes with plenty of mounting accessories, including remote boom or wired mic option, which is not feasible for modular use.

Sena product had always been our choice since first purchase.
I have used Sena SMH10 units for several years and loaned my extra units to friends so we could ride together and stay in touch. This clamp mount unit is very easy to install and the connections are solid. One word of caution: When you go to re-install the helmet pad, take a piece of electrical tape to help protect the wires from the sharp edge of the pad.

This accessory works with the Sena SMH10 (sold separately) to create a complete wireless communication solution

The Sena SMH-A0302 is a clamp kit for the SMH10 Bluetooth communication system (sold separately). This is a great piece to have for installing an SMH10 system on extra helmets. The module swaps easily from helmet to helmet. This kit includes the headset unit with speakers, detachable boom microphone, detachable soft wire microphone, a double sided adhesive mount, a bracket mount that slides in between the shell and liner with allen bolts and wrench, velcro to mount the speakers, and a 3.5mm auxillary input cable.

Combine with the Sena SMH10 for a Complete Solution

The SMH10 is a Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR Class 1 Stereo Headset with long-range Bluetooth Intercom designed specifically for motorcycles (sold separately). With the SMH10, you can call hands-free on your Bluetooth mobile phone, listen to stereo music or voice instructions of GPS navigations by Bluetooth wirelessly, and have intercom conversations in full duplex with a passenger or other motorcycle riders.

Thanks to the latest Bluetooth v2.1 and the advanced digital processing technology, the SMH10 offers the best sound quality for both incoming and outgoing sound in its class. Also, the easy-to-access and intuitive button operations make the SMH10 a perfect companion for motorcycles.

Bluetooth v2.1 Wireless

SHM10 can wirelessly connect to other Bluetooth devices supporting HSP/HFP (Headset Profile/Hands Free Profile) and A2DP (Advance Audio Distribution Profile). HSP/HFP is standard in all phones with Bluetooth features. Almost all Bluetooth MP3 players, smartphone, and audio dongles support A2DP to send stereo audio to Bluetooth headsets like like the Sena SMH10. Enjoy Bluetooth music playback control by AVRCP: play, pause, track forward and track back.

Other Bluetooth features include Multi-Pair to allow intercom functionality for 4 persons, and compatibility with select motorcycle GPS systems.

Individual Adjustable Volume Profiles

You can easily decrease/increase the volume of the voice, music and intercom using Jog Dial. The SMH10 can save volume levels of previously connected profiles. This means that phone volume (HSP/HFP), music volume (A2DP), and intercom volumes will be saved separately and return to its own saved volume level whenever associated profile is reconnected.

Profile volume adjustment is only affected during the use of its specific profile. However, when changing volume during standby mode, then volume change applies to all profiles. Alert tones like low battery warning and connection tones can only be adjusted in standby mode.

Easy Installation for Most Helmets

The SMH10 will fit onto various types of helmets. The standard clamp, included in default packaging, will fit onto most helmets. For installations which may require extra wire length, ear buds instead of speakers, and wire microphone instead of boom microphone, Sena offers different types of clamps such as the SMH-A0302 as an additional accessory to allow various installations and user preferences.

The foam for the speakers is unnecessary and just muffles audio. Trust me you don't need them. The mic cuts out all wind noise and people can hear me just fine on calls. Plus the audio controlls are fairly simple. It's a bit of a trick pushing AND twisting without messing up the volume while trying to change songs. But I'm pleased for 35$
I hated switching back and forth with helmets so I figured I would just get a bracket for each. This unit came brand new in box and had everything as advertised. The only problem is that the left speaker does not work. I can live with that, since I only use it for phone calls and the right is plenty loud for me to hear the conversation.
I'm very happy that, after damaging the boom mike on my SMH10, I realized that I could buy this product instead of buying a whole new headset. Works great with the SMH10, just switched out the damaged mike/headset with this one, plugged in the BT transmitter and we were talking to each other again without having to spend hundreds for a completely new set. Very satisfied with this product!
had to adapt it to fit my helmet the rim of the helmet is different to normal helmets and the clip did not fit so i use double sided tape to stick it on and this seems ok.
I use them for my work helmets ( I'm a tree surgeon) and motobike helmet. The only issue is the wire to the speakers should be a bit longer for a easier install as I couldn't get one of them perfect without compromising the placement of the unit. Perfect for my work helmet as the unit is at the back of the helmets.
