I’ve had two of these fly off when I turn my head to check my blind spot.
Also, the gradient line between smoke and clear is smack in the middle of sight line so when looking down the road is distracting since the top half is dark and the lower half is clear. Not good for sunny riding. Would be nice if the smoke tint extended and extra inch.
Always make sure you firmly press the bottom of the shield so it overlaps with the helmet as much as possible to potentially prevent it from flying off.
I had this Bell 3 Snap Shield for about 4-5 Riding Months (Live in Wisconsin - Limited Riding Season). I was riding one day, looked over my shoulder while switching lanes, when all of the sudden, the bubble shield ripped off of my helmet and almost caused me to lose control of my bike. Very scary experience. I was able to recover the bubble shield and upon further inspection, the middle snap came loose from it's housing on the bubble shield and was only attached to my helmet, not to the shield. The chrome/plastic that lines the perimeter of the shield had loosened up and the middle snap somehow got disconnected. This cause the shield to be in effective in at 50-60mph and come loose.
I really liked the look and style of this product and received a lot of compliments, but unfortunately, the quality just wasn't there for the long road.
Bought this Bell retro shield to go on my Bell #1 American Flag helmet. Fit great, looked great, didn't work great. Must have not read all of the info. Notice inside the package said, " not for road use ". Ok, put it on anyway hopped on my Harley and off I went. About five miles down the road I noticed the shield started to vibrate at 70 mph. Then out of nowhere it blew off. No recovery due to a big truck running it down. Buy at your own risk if you plan to ride with it on...
Tint color and gradient are good. Snap hardware seem to be of good quality and hold well to my Bell Custom 500 Jager helmet in crosswinds. The chrome trim around the edge of the shield is bubbling though and in time will peel off. This old school shield and helmet combo met my nostalgia appearance goal, but doesn't compare to modern helmet features and quality like my Neotec II or GT Air. You should know that going into your purchase.
I received and took this shield out on a 90+ mile ride today, varying speeds topping out at ~90mph. I was really impressed by the way it stayed in place by the 3 snaps and, most of all, how it kept the wind away from my face and eyes, unlike the flat shields. I have an Arai Classic V 3/4 helmet on which I used this and let me just say that this is, by far, the best shield I've ever owned.

The shield works fine it's just not secure. After losing 2 on a long ride I realized that you need something to secure the sides and keep it from moving around. I'm going to try some clear moving tape ,on the sides, to keep it secure without blocking any sight. I need to mention I'm not using this on a Bell helmet ,it's a Daytona 3/4 -3 Snap.
Not the same shape as the ones from the 70's, it almost rests on the helmet on the sides, but enough of a gap on a new Daytona 3/4 helmet that at speed the thing vibrates, which is an annoying buzz as well as effecting the clarity of your view. I'm gonna run a small bead of silicone down the edge that touches the helmet and let it dry before snapping it back on, that should take care of the issue. Other than that its a nice face shield, not as bendy as some.
First off this is a cheap, and stylish addition to a 3/4 helmet. I love the green tint as it matches my favorite sun glasses. I epoxied the snaps into the location that worked best for my helmet and it solved the minor rattling issue. Will order a second one for when I eventually scratch this one up to much .
