I bought this to use exclusively with my 'Droid phone and Garmin Zumo 550 GPS. It is perfect for that use. The volume could be higher but with the phone volume high and the Sena 3S on its second to highest setting the volume was fine. My helmet is a HJC IS-MAX. The speaker pockets in the helmet were smaller than the speakers but with a little fiddling, I got them to stay in. With the helmet liner and cheek pieces in, everything stays put.
I was on the Interstate doing roughly 70 MPH when my wife called; she said the quality was fine. I'm very pleased with the Sena 3S-B
I love the idea of not having a control box on the side of my helmet but accessing the controls in a modular requires you to raise the face. Not a good idea while riding. I think this would be much better in a 3/4 helmet with a face shield. The sound, on the other hand, is fantastic! it also gets very loud if that's what you like. I have an SMH 5 and this sounds much better..
I bought this after having a cheaper generic brand one, that I could barely hear my music over exhaust and road noise. I must say I am 100% impressed with this one! The mic stays exactly where I put it, not to mention it has the little cover to help reduce noise. The sound quality is SOOOO much better than my other pair. It is at least twice as loud and still sounded good. This is a great example of "You get what you pay for" I went cheap the first time and got cheap results, then paid more and got MORE!
Pretty awesome unit. I bought a $20 budget bluetooth for my helmet previously and it died in about 3 days. Don't waste your money on junk like that just get this Sena 3S. Loud and clear in my modular helmet. The speakers are a bit big, I had to slightly trim some of the foam in my helmet to make it fit because it wasn't made with recessed space for a communications unit. There's some people here complaining about that but if you do a little trim job this will work perfectly.
I put this in my Shark helmet and it works wonders. Very clear sound, solid Bluetooth connection, and everyone says they can hear me perfectly clear. (My other helmet that I had it in doesn't have a face piece, so I would wear a bandana and simply tuck the mic under the bandana while I was talking to someone. Sounds perfectly clear to the other person). If at any point this headset breaks, I have full intention of purchasing another.
Side note, it is very easy to lose the mic cover, but it works just fine without it, and it comes with spares. If that's a big deal for you, you can always glue the cover on, but really, the mic is much slimmer without the cover anyhow. Battery works great, lasts plenty long enough for a very long ride on a full charge.

Bluetooth headsets.
Can’t talk or hear at highway speeds and when the battery is low you have about 4 minutes before it just shuts off completely so have a how backup if you’re using it for directions. I got about 4 hours of riding with music in my ears before it was just done
This product looked used. You could not get more than 6 feet without it dropping signal. Cracking sound was terrible. Called Sena, spent all morning trying to figure out the problem but was not able to find the problem. Had to send them back.
I like the Sena 3S but the wire that connects the two speakers is too short to be neatly tucked inside my Arai CT-Z helmet. Simply adding another 4-5 inches of wire would make this device perfect. Overall sound quality is good and volume is good even over the exhaust note of a KLR650. Sena is not very helpful and they had long customer service response time.
I use this in a BMW system 7 carbon helmet, I previously had a Sena 30K but there is nothing that will fit on the side of this helmet except BMW very expensive comms unit. If your wanting a simple one to one pear i.e. GPS, phone, music excetra then it can't be faulted but if your after a hub to communicate with everything then this isn't it.
The unit lacks the latest Bluetooth software which limits what it will connect too, so you should make sure that whatever your wanting to pair with will be of the same version. Although 'Blutooth' is backward compatible, it's not forward, hope that makes sense.
I'm very happy for it to connect to my Nav 6 GPS and let that act as a hub for all I want to do.
Would I buy it again ?...Only if the bluetooth software was updated. C'mon Sena....It's only a 'Software' update and peeps know your just trying to make them buy a more expensive unit.
Works brilliantly, I like that its self contained without needing a separate box on the outside of the helmet
