Was excited to get this lock and extension to use with my bike. However today it arrived and the extension bar was missing from the package, meaning I received just the combo lock. It is basically useless without both parts. I don’t need just a combo lock. The first thing I did was check the box to see if it fell out. It wasn’t there. The other issue is, I don’t want to be penalized for returning it so, basically it is a loss. And I would not recommend this item. I cannot recommend somethnig I did not receive.
Just got this today as a little protection to keep someone from simply walking off with a $700 helmet. Turns out the back of the package says it will not work with "some" Shoei helmets. Mine is one of those I suppose. It doesn't say that anywhere in the product description. It would be nice to know since Shoei is one of the most popular helmet manufacturers. The T-bar is too fat to fit through the ratcheting device. I wouldn't use it anyways, I'm no incredible hulk but I just bent and snapped the T-bar by hand. It is made of very cheap aluminum, not steel. I reset combo on the carabiner no problem. Maybe I can still use it with a cable of some sort.
Simply put, my helmet was stolen while using this lock the very first day I used it during midday. I was parked in San Francsico, which is known to have high rates of theft. If you normally park in areas that are less prone to theft this lock is likely to be a good deterrent, but in practice is easily broken. The T-bar that is used to connect the lock to the bike is fragile and can be snapped off easily.

Overall, the lock is easy to setup and use, but I would not suggest using this method to secure your helmet. Locked saddle-bags, or carrying the helmet with you is the way to go to ensure your helmet wont be stolen.

good idea if the combo reset would hold in place while resetting numbers. reset lock does not hold so you do not know what the new combo is. able to reset it once then it did the same thing again. stay away from this cheap item.

Instructions state be wary when setting your own code once received. I was and still mucked up two of them as the lever to set them fell back while spinning the dials to set my own code. I've thrown two away I messed up setting them properly, but I have two more that I was successful at. I'd have not bought two more had I thought they weren't worth the price.
For some reason, the stock saddlebags on the Silverado edition of the Yamaha V-Star completely block the stock helmet lock placement. After deciding against putting another lock on the engine guards or license plate mount, and also another key on my ring, when I don't always lock my helmet anyways, I found this. Can just throw it in my saddlebags until I need it, then it's on and locked in just a minute. Can also come in handy if you have a passenger helmet and they can't both fit on a single fender-mounted lock. Doesn't scratch the chrome on my handlebars. Doesn't move very much so the helmet doesn't scratch the gas tank or vice versa. Eaasy to set the combo. Nobody's stolen my $450 helmet/bluetooth system yet so I think it's worth it.
I have a 2002 Triumph Thunderbird...sweet bike, but no standard helmet lock. Rather than bolt on some garbage aftermarket appendage to keep my helmet from walking away (you never know...there has to be fetishists out there who get off on the acrid stench of summertime helmet sweat...) I hunted for and found this solution. All I can say is this bad boy is brilliant in its simplicity. It is mindnumbingly easy to set your own 4-digit custom combination, is rubberized so it will not gnaw off the paint you try so damn hard to keep sparkling after each and every ride, and it just works. Make sure you order the model with the included T-Bar, as this is absolutely essential if you have a helmet (like the bad-ass Daytona cruiser) without the D-ring strap.
Works well and I like that it's got some padding on the lock to prevent scratching. It is a bit expensive for what you get, but not outrageously expensive. When you set your own code, though, be careful that the setting switch doesn't slip part way through process so you get some random code. It's well documented in the instructions if you're one to read instructions but it does seem to slip easily if you're not careful.

As others have mentioned, the "T-Bar" fell out of one of the packages (I ordered two) and was sitting in the bottom of the envelope. Interestingly, the other package was stapled to prevent the T-Bar from coming out (and it didn't).

Overall I'd recommend it as it doesn't take up much space and works well.
MISSING PIECE. DON'T BUY.
